Who Knew What Lashes Could Do!

Two weeks ago I was at party. There was a girl I knew but didn’t really “know.” She’s  the girl I saw around town, Kings, Cocoa Bella, etc but we never actually spoke. We all have that somebody , right? The person we see all the time, maybe smile and that is where it ends. Well I felt like it was finally time to say “hi”. So I did. The first thing I noticed when I was up close to her were her eyelashes. They were STUNNING!! Because I am not shy, I dove in. I had to know. I asked her how on earth she was blessed with such gorgeous eyelashes. She laughed and said she actually wasn’t. They were eyelash extensions. I begged her for details. We spoke so long about her eyelashes she practically became my new bestie. I spent 30 minutes with her discussing the entire process. I was excited to know she had the extensions applied in town at Lash House Beauty Boutique in Livingston. I had to experience it for myself.

I called  Lash House on Monday and made an appointment for Friday with the owner, Suzette. She told me it was going to take 2 hours. 2 HOURS! AHHH. But I kept thinking back to the girl at the party and knew I had to try it. Friday rolled around and I went. It was so weird that I drove by this place every day and never walked in. So glad I did. First let me tell you, it was beautiful.

Lash House was very tastefully decorated, warm and inviting. I always think that when you are offering a high-end service, a salon should exude luxury and class. I know when I spend good money somewhere I want that feeling of “this is why I came here” when I walk in.  The lady at the front desk was gracious when I walked in and offered me a drink before I got started (no, not a cocktail. Although on a Friday afternoon before a 2 hour service that would have been great, lol). Suzette came out to greet me and I followed her back to the room where I was having the eyelash extensions applied.

I took off my coat and shoes and laid down on the bed. I thought I was NEVER going to get up because the bed was heated!! I almost fell asleep the minute my head hit the pillow. Suzette explained the process, informing me the extensions are synthetic strands of eyelashes that are applied one by one directly to your natural eyelash. Each lash is thicker at the base and taper at the tip, designed to look like a natural lash. The extensions are available in many different sizes, curls and thicknesses. The lash artist will decide what you need based on your own lashes. She told me she had to use a thin pad to separate my top eyelashes from the bottom lashes. It didn’t hurt at all. It  just felt a little cool when she applied the strip. She went to work. I know two hours seems like an eternity for some people. Many people might think they need a Xanax to lay there for two hours. But we talked, we listened to some great tunes, time flew and I got the back story. Suzette began her beauty career 12 years ago and in 2005 she became one of the first to be Advanced Certified in Extreme Lash application. She tapped into an unmet market, created instant gratification for her clients and gained a huge following.

The process itself was painless. I wasn’t uncomfortable and before I knew it,  it was over!!! Suzette asked me to look in the mirror when I was finished and I was flabbergasted! I didn’t even recognize myself. I could not believe how gorgeous my lashes looked!!

I have to tell you, after washing my face and applying a little blush, I was ready to go out! Marina, mine did.  I loved the way they looked but when the lashes came out so did my real lashes.  For that reason alone, I never did it again.

  3. Lash extensions are applied 1 mm from the base of the lash . They are applied on all the real lashes, short, medium and long ones.. The long ones are the first to grow/ fall out because the have reached their life capacity. It is very important for the lash stylist to chose extensions that are not going to harm or weigh down the natural lash. We use different materials and curvatures to give that look that you desire without compromising the integrity of the real lash.  We correct “bad ” lash extensions everyday, and by correct I mean remove. If you are not using a lash stylist that is certified by a reputable company than usually they are misinformed. Lashes will fall out prematurely if they are too heavy in weight, not cleaned properly or touched too much. AND OIL, whether it’s from your skin or from your eye-makeup remover it’s all the same. If you are using an eye makeup remover from a drug store (loreal, almay, neutrogena) and it’s says oil-free on the bottle BUT you see the oil settle on top , IT HAS OIL LADIES! The FDA allows the product to have less than 37% oil to be approved as oil-free….. I cannot answer why they do but that’s what it is..

I have been doing lashes for 9 years now and absolutely love it!! When I began doing lashes I myself thought this was a fad but now I truly believe it’s a “lifestyle”. I feel like a make a difference everyday in beautifying women.  I’m proud to say that I still have clients from when I first started and they can’t believe how I grew a business out of 2 day class of lash extensions.. I’m always looking into new products that are going to extend the life of your extensions. Im happy to educate anyone on how to take care of your lashes and I’m not going to ignore that I have seen some crazy lashes out there but I  promise they are not coming out of The Lash House.

I have been getting my lashes done as Lash House for several months now. I am obsessed and could never go without them. My real lashes have not been compromised at all. I also get my waxing and facials done there as well. I can’t say enough great things about The Lash House! http://www.lashhousebeautyboutique.com
