Today’s feature of Hot Houses is a magnificent 7 bedroom, 5.1 bath Colonial home in the historic Montrose Section of South Orange. This beauty is located at 306 Warwick Avenue.  If you are unfamiliar with South Orange, it is a wonderful town! There is also hiking and biking trails in the South Mountain Reservation, a 2,000-acre preserve that also has a dog park run by the county.

The house I am showcasing on Warwick Avenue has a special block association which includes members of the South Orange Town Board, professional pianists, and musicians and just kind, unobtrusive people. There is a Warwick Association group email informing the street of local events, storm information and other important community news. They share resources, partake in vegetable shares and enjoy block parties. The neighborhood is a very tight-knit community. They genuinely look out for each other and warmly welcome a new homeowner with open arms.

As for the home, the owners have taken care of it as they intended to remain for the long-term. The house was updated but maintains the charm and integrity of the 150-year old historic home.
